Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a social worker to join our dynamic and enthusiastic specialist young people’s service in Peterborough.
We are a skilled and experienced team who are committed to making a difference to vulnerable young people by working creatively with adolescents, their families and their communities.
The successful candidate will have a passion for working alongside young people, with experience of assessing and developing plans to address issues such as child criminal and sexual exploitation, child to parent violence, offending behaviour, homelessness and emotional wellbeing. You will need to demonstrate your ability to successfully build relationships with young people who have faced adverse experiences in order to promote positive outcomes. You will primarily work with young people who are considered to be a Child In Need, within the framework of S17 of the Children Act.
This is a great opportunity to work alongside partner agencies to shape our offer around vulnerable young people and to be at the forefront of developing practice to safeguard young people at risk of extra-familial harm. We believe that delivering our services well has the potential to transform the lives of children, young people and their families in Peterborough. We help children, young people and their families to build their resilience and community connections and empower them to find solutions to challenges they face. We understand that children and young people are not all the same, but they all deserve outstanding services.
We would like to welcome to our friendly and well-supported team, a social worker who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, enthusiastic, passionate and ready for a new challenge!
If you would like to hear more about the role, please contact the service manager, Ed Thirlwall on 07551039799 or email ed.thirlwall@peterborough.gov.uk
There has never been a better time to work for our council. An explosion of growth is taking place in Peterborough which will benefit everyone who lives, works and spends time here.
Peterborough’s new university opened its doors last year, with phases two and three in progress, and a new government hub at Fletton Quays opened its doors earlier this year, with a Hilton Hotel with rooftop bar opening soon.
Plans are afoot for many other city centre sites, including the railway station which the city council has received £48million from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund to redevelop, and a new city centre hub and footbridge across the embankment, as part of a number of projects being funded by the Government’s Towns Fund.
Peterborough’s time really is now.
We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
