Then this senior Learning Disabilities Occupational Therapy position sounds like the right opportunity for you! 

The people on your caseload will all have a Learning Disability (LD) and may include those with complex communication difficulties, sensory needs, and behaviours of concern, health and social care needs and physical disabilities. The work is all based in the community, so it is important that you have your own transport to be able to travel from one location to another. 

We work with a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychology, nursing, speech & language therapy and social workers and you will have responsibility & line management for another occupational therapist working in the same area. You will also support the Therapy Services Manager in service development and management of the day to day running of the LD Occupational Therapy Service.
 
All about you

You are a compassionate and proactive individual with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and are registered with the HCPC. You have experience working as a qualified Occupational Therapist and your strong communication and interpersonal skills enable you to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You are committed to continuous professional development and are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of others.
You will have transferrable skills that you can bring from your present role and ensure that your interventions are as holistic as possible taking into account all aspects of the person’s daily life.
You will have independent, well-reasoned judgement and decision making skills and excellent communication skills.
You will use highly specialist skills to assess the impact of an individual’s learning disabilities on their occupational performance through the use of specific OT standardised and non-standardised assessments.
You will implement, monitor and evaluate highly specialist treatment programmes to get the best outcomes.  
You will work collaboratively with other health and social care professionals to deliver holistic assessments and improve the quality of life for the people of Peterborough.

We operate a flexible way of working over the week, you will manage your own diary and there is no weekend working. We are mostly agile and work from home, whilst using the office as an official work base.

The main OT team works with adults including moving and handling, minor and major adaptations, Technology Enabled Care, Learning Disability, OT Duty triaging and prioritising cases, as well as some work for Children’s services within the home environment.
