We have an exciting apprenticeship opportunity within Peterborough City Councils highway development control team. As a Highway Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a very experienced team on new developments in the city from initial planning application through to delivery, gaining valuable experience of the Planning process, technical design review and be able to see projects come to life through the on-site inspection process.
This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate and the key responsibilities are summarised as follows;
• Represent the local highway authority as a consultee and provide expert advice on planning applications for new developments, from minor applications initially right up to large developments as you progress through your apprenticeship.
• Undertake the detailed technical assessment of development related highway work agreements under Section 38 and Section 278 of the Highways Act 1980.
• Be able to advise others on the local plan, transport plan and be conversant with current planning and highway guidance detailed in the Highways Act 1980.
You will be supported throughout the apprenticeship from an experienced and well-established friendly team who will assist in your development. In addition to this, you will be enrolled on the Civil Engineering Senior Technician apprenticeship scheme, which is a three-year course that will help you develop your knowledge of civil engineering as well as achieve an industry recognised qualification.
