We are seeking an outstanding individual to fulfil the role of City Centre Project Manager. This is a new role, created to influence the economic development and recovery of Peterborough City Centre to make the centre a destination for residents, business and visitors. You will understand the economic challenges facing the “High Street”, ideally experience of partnership working with Business Improvement Districts and genuine empathy with businesses seeking to recover following COVID19 Lockdowns.

You will work closely with colleagues leading on large scale regeneration of the city centre, including the delivery of a new university which will bring additional vitality to our high street as well as other departments tasked with keeping the centre safe, clean and green. You will have fresh ideas for how we develop a competitive city centre offer that brings people back into the city safely and the role of the City Council. You will have experience of working in a business or policy environment, and be able to respond quickly and effectively to swiftly drive economic change in the city. You will be able to analyse complex issues and assess their implications for the city, and develop strong relationships across the Council including our elected members and other key stakeholders, such as the BID and Opportunity Peterborough.


Your skills
You will have project management experience, bid writing for external funding and knowledge of UK government economic priorities to support SME businesses.

Our work environment
All our office-based roles are currently working from home as part of our Smarter Working plans and to support the health and safety of all our colleagues. We anticipate that working remotely will be a key feature of this role and when offices re-open your office base will be at our offices at Sand Martin House, Peterborough. We are very accessible, just 39 minutes from London on the train and recently voted the 3rd most walkable place in the UK.

Fixed Term contract till September 2022
