We have a fantastic opening for you to join our Think Communities, Youth in Communities team, in the role of Youth Support Worker - Youth Voice. Due to current developments and the current needs of young people considering the ongoing pandemic, we are seeking to employ the right person to support the delivery, development and evaluation of a range of youth participation delivery and community related projects to promote the voice of Peterborough Young People and their personal, education and social development at this critical time. The role is for 22.5 hours per week, Fixed term until 31/03/2022.
We are looking for a motivated, well organised and committed youth worker with experience of working within an informal environment, to achieve positive change and valuable outcomes for young people. This is a great opportunity to really make your mark; the post holder will have the ability to spot and develop new opportunities and approaches to develop our youth in communities work, as well as develop their own knowledge and skill set. The successful candidate will be based at Sand Martin House with the ability to work flexibly at a range of locations across Peterborough including from home and digitally.
Candidates will need excellent communication skills and the ability to join a diverse and enthusiastic team of staff and young people. Understanding and ensuring quality youth work practice is a prerequisite of the role. You’ll bring experience in the youth sector, alongside an excellent understanding of youth voice and high-quality youth work delivery. A knowledge of current youth issues and the communities of Peterborough will enable you to support young people in a range of settings and ways including democratic processes, meaningful social action, volunteering and awareness raising as peer educators.
