Peterborough City Council has an exciting opportunity to work as a part of a wider SQA service with specialist knowledge in improving youth justice practice and service delivery.
 
You will ensure that quality assurance activity is effective to support good outcomes for children within the Youth Justice system. You will co-ordinate audit frameworks and dip sampling including feedback from children and families. Responsibility will include ensuring the voice of the child and their lived experience is included in all quality assurance activity. You will also monitor follow up recommendations of individual audits undertaken to ensure actions are carried forward and youth justice officers are supported to improve practice. You will triangulate best practice in Youth Justice nationally and consider how this can be used to impact local practice.

There will be responsibility for dissemination of learning across youth justice in both written formats and staff development sessions working with the service and workforce development. You will collate good practice and areas of development from quality assurance activity across the services to include in reports and development sessions and present to the Youth Justice Management Board, managers and the workforce. This will include providing reports to senior management, boards and workforce on quality assurance recommendations and activity to improve outcomes for children and learning for staff.

You will ensure all learning contributes to service learning & development plans including induction and will provide training and support to other staff undertaking audits. The role will involve working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues including the wider safeguarding and youth justice partnership board. This role will involve leading on participation with children and ensuring equality and diversity is at the centre of youth justice practice. You will also assist in developing and implementing our Youth Justice Equality, Diversity and Disproportionality statement, strategy and plan in partnership with children, the workforce and strategic partners.

All post holders are required to maintain their own Continuous Professional Development and develop a high level of professional knowledge through research, and reading, providing a source of expertise and developing specialist knowledge as required. This is an opportunity to work as part of wider Standards and Quality Assurance Service to strengthen youth justice and work to strengthen practice within a wider targeted service for vulnerable young people.
