Further Information
There has never been a better time to work for Peterborough City Council, and if you’re a communications professional, it presents a great opportunity to make your mark and to make a difference.

No two days are ever the same working for our council – we’re providing services for one of the fastest growing cities in the country, an explosion of growth is taking place, our communities are diverse and home to people from a variety of different countries and we’re transforming our services so that they can continue to improve the lives of everyone who lives and works in the city against a challenging financial backdrop.

We’re looking for a Website Assistant to work as part of the council’s Communications Team on a one-year contract.

You will focus on content maintenance and quality assurance for our council website, making sure information is accessible, easy to find and meets customers’ needs.

You will lead on a rolling audit of all our web content to ensure the website is accurate and current. You will work with many teams, taking complex information and facts and creating engaging web content for our audiences. Quality assuring content, ensuring that the website content adheres to our style guide and meets WCAG and public sector accessibility regulations is a core element of the role.

You will provide support to council service teams for change requests and updates, issue resolution and content queries. You must be able to work to tight deadlines, prioritise and schedule work on a daily basis.

We are looking for someone who can work independently but can also work and communicate effectively as part of a team. You will have exceptional copywriting and proofing skills, be able to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail, and quality standards.

Working for our council comes with a wide range of benefits including generous annual leave, flexible working, enhanced maternity and paternity pay, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, salary sacrifice schemes including car leasing and a cycle to work scheme and the chance to complete volunteering days in the community. We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.

If you think you have the right experience and qualifications for this role, we want to hear from you. For an informal discussion please contact Gavin Walklate on 07926 543510.
