Further Information
Think Communities is at the heart of changing the way the public, private and voluntary sector work together with communities in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. By investing in communities and supporting local delivery by those who know their residents best, we will improve the outcomes for people who do not yet have local support networks, creating places where people can feel safe, healthy, connected and able to help themselves and each other.

As an ambassador of the Think Communities approach, you will work confidently in the knowledge that our activity will support local and public sector priorities whilst allowing you the freedom and autonomy to work innovatively in your area.

With highly effective communication skills, Place Coordinators will organise and facilitate local events and workshops, some outside of normal working hours, to improve shared understanding of community assets and priorities and engage with local groups and residents. A strong understanding of the capability, capacity and sustainability of community led action developed through strength based and asset based community development will be complimented by desire to explore different interventions and funding opportunities which support and improve the lives of people in our places.

The Place Coordinator will have direct line management and will build and coordinate multidisciplinary place teams, quickly developing trusted working relationships drawn from a wide range of public, private and health sectors, social care, voluntary and community sector, community leaders and other capable people, utilising the strengths of the diverse range of those involved. Fostering a culture of innovation through working in collaboration, partners will represent themselves and each other with the best interests of communities in that place.

The Place Coordinator will provide a strategic link with local partnerships, including strategic Place Boards, Living Well and Community Safety Partnerships as well as maximising opportunities to align emerging front line influencers such as link workers within Primary Care Networks.

This is a fixed term role for 12 months.

If you would like to discuss these roles informally please contact Elaine Matthews, Think Communities Manager Elaine.Matthews@Peterborough.gov.uk

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire/Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
