Peterborough Sensory and Physical Support Service are seeking to appoint a full time Teacher of the Deaf to work in a peripatetic role with families, schools, early years settings, special schools and hubs and colleges to build their capacity to meet the needs of learners who are deaf aged 0-25.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated professional who is committed to working in partnership with our stakeholders and who seeks to improve the outcomes for all our children and young people who are deaf and their families.
The role of a Teacher of the Deaf requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, the ability to work independently and the ability to contribute to the wider team within the Service. Being well organised and able to meet deadlines is essential.
Peterborough Sensory and Physical Support Service is a small team of specialists who work within the wider Special Educational Needs and Inclusion Service within Peterborough City Council.
We will consider suitably experienced teachers without the mandatory qualification who are interested in developing their specialist skills to work with pupils who are deaf.
You will be an outstanding practitioner who has recent classroom teaching experience, a passion for SEND and who has or is willing to undertake the two-year specialist postgraduate qualification to train as a Teacher of the Deaf. The Service provides a mentor for all new members of staff and for those in training.
Due to the nature of this role you must be able to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post.
