It’s an exciting time to be joining Peterborough city council with a new Early Help and Vulnerable Young People’s Partnership Strategy being launched to improve outcomes for children aged 5 – 18 across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We are seeking a highly skilled Service Manager with experience of delivering services for vulnerable young people to join a forward thinking, passionate and high performing management team.

This innovative service focusses on offering a range of specialist services to adolescents aged 11-18, and their families. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing services for young people who are Child in Need, those in the Youth Justice System, those at risk of mental health, family breakdown, exploitation and becoming a child in care.

You will be key to developing the delivery of services for young people to help them:

· remain safe from harm

· lead healthy lives

· build resilience

· and engage positively within their communities.

The post holder is required to demonstrate extensive theoretical and operational knowledge of the current legislation, procedures and guidance relating to social care and youth justice services for young people. They will also need to demonstrate skills and ability to effectively manage and lead a high performing service that delivers excellent outcomes for young people.

You must have substantial experience in Children’s Social Care or Youth Justice and have the ability to think and work flexibly and independently. A Social Work professional qualification is essential.
