Further Information
It’s an exciting time to be joining Peterborough’s Targeted Youth Support Service (TYSS). We are seeking a highly skilled Service Manager with experience of service delivery to young people with behaviours that present risks to both themselves and others. The TYSS is a new and innovative service focused on offering a range of specialist services to young people aged 13-18 and their families. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing services for young people in the Criminal Justice System, those at risk of mental health, family breakdown, exploitation and becoming a child in care.

During a recent HMIP Inspection, Peterborough Youth Offending Team (team within TYSS) were rated as overall Good with areas of Outstanding. The report highlighted that we are in a ‘well-established place within an extensive set of partnership arrangements’ with ‘a skilled and experienced group of operational staff who are committed to delivering high-quality services’. This excellent outcome is testament to the service dedication and commitment to young people.

You would be key in developing the delivery of services for young people and their families/carers and will be part of a management team leading on ensuring that Peterborough’s vulnerable adolescents are protected from significant harm, can better manage the risks they face and enhance their life chances.

The post holder will be required to demonstrate extensive theoretical and operational knowledge of the current legislation, procedures and guidance relating to services for young people. They will also need to demonstrate skills and ability to effectively manage and lead a high performing service that delivers excellent outcomes for young people.

You must possess substantial experience in Children’s Social Care or Youth Justice and have the ability to think and work flexibly and independently. A Social Work professional qualification is essential.

Closing date – 7th March 2021. For further information please contact Anna Jack, Head of Youth Support Services, 07902 596048.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
