Peterborough City Council are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated addition to our drainage team to fulfil a role in the delivery of its flood risk and water management service.

You will work with your colleagues within the Lead Local Flood Authority to ensure it meets its statutory duties detailed in the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, Highways Act 1980 and associated flood related regulations and local policies.

A key focus of your role will be providing statutory consultation responses for planning applications in relation to sustainable drainage systems (SuDs) and surface water flood risk. A good understanding of hydrology and environmental sciences will be essential for this role.

Although it is preferred that candidate has some work experience, however we will also welcome graduates with knowledge in the fields of hydrology, geography, or civil engineering. Appropriate training about the role will be provided to the successful candidate.

You will also work alongside colleagues in the highway development team on the delivery of innovative sustainable drainage systems (SuDs) including carrying out approvals, inspections and providing technical advice.

You must have the ability to analyse issues and identify options, be computer literate with the ability to adapt to various software packages, have demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills, able to work under pressure, use own initiative and most importantly, be able to work as a member of a team.
