All about the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a clinical team at Peterborough City Council. We work as a trauma-informed service using a holistic and integrated approach that supports our foster carers, care leavers, children and colleagues. There are opportunities for providing clinical consultation, formulation and mentalisation of the child's experiences and presentation. We work directly with the families and also provide reflective supervision and support to children's social care colleagues and work collaboratively with stakeholders and professionals within the child's professional network. The team also offers support and advice to our care leavers team.


All About You 

The specialist clinician role is open to registered health and social care professionals who have experience and qualifications in psychology, mental health, trauma and attachment. Working autonomously at times with a small caseload, the specialist clinician assesses the needs, strengths and areas of support for families.  

All about our Team

Our team has an assistant psychologist, family and parenting support worker and clinical lead clinician. We use attachment theory/Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and other approaches to support the child and family/carers to understand what the impact of trauma, neglect and abuse on the mind and body and then suggest interventions that improve relationships and outcomes for children looked after by the corporate parents. The team works collaboratively and compassionately with other professionals from a wide range of statutory and non-statutory services to support access to specialised services that support the needs for the child and care leaver.
