Are you a Social Worker looking for a different and challenging career opportunity? Do you want to be a part of something exciting and new? If you are adaptable, up for a challenge and keen to test yourself in a fast-moving environment, then this could be the role for you.

We are looking for Adult Social Worker to join us in an exciting new service – Exemplar, to provide support to working-age adults. The Peterborough Exemplar Project is one of 12 national NHS-England pilots aiming to improve community mental health provision whilst putting the person at the centre of their care.

You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside other Social Work professionals, CPNs, Doctors, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Support Workers promoting the best outcomes for service users and carers. As this is a new team, there is still a lot to scope out and we want you to be fully involved with all the relevant parties, so your creativity and ideas will be welcomed.

You will have experience working with service users and their carers who experience mental health problems. You will take holistic approach and work together with other agencies that provide voluntary services in the Peterborough area. You will have an excellent working knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (and DOLS). You will apply the Social Perspective to their work and keep social care issues current in your practice to help promote independence and recovery for clients.

We have Social Workers who are also Practice Teachers, and we encourage our practitioners to take part in the training of new Social Workers through our links with Anglia Ruskin University in the Degree and the MA in Social Work and also the ASYE. Peterborough City Council and CPFT offer training opportunities so that everyone can keep their knowledge and Social Work England registration up to date and continue to improve on their knowledge and skills in order to progress in their career.

If you have a flexible positive attitude, are passionate about promoting service user’s independence and rights, and the role of the Social Worker, then this is the ideal role for you!
Peterborough City Council, through their Section 75 Agreement, provides mental health social work embedded in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. CPFT is the health trust providing assessment and treatment for mental health problems.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the role, please contact Karen Reeve, Social Work Manager, or Emily Kilby, Senior Practitioner on 01733 748419.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
