Further Information
Peterborough City Council, through their Section 75 Agreement, provides mental health social work embedded in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

We are currently recruiting for a Social Worker to join us working in the Peterborough Adult Locality team (PALT), primarily working with a caseload of working age adults. There are 9 Social Workers/AMHPs working across the PALT multidisciplinary team which includes CPNs, Doctors, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Support Workers to promote the best outcomes for service users and carers.

The ideal candidate will be an AMHP but willingness to train as an AMHP would be desirable. Knowledge and experience of working with service users and their carers who experience mental health problems who are managed by CPA and also non-CPA would be key to this role, as would working with other agencies that provide voluntary services in the Peterborough area. Social Workers in this team work to an aligned model of service delivery. CPFT is the health trust providing assessment and treatment for mental health problems. Social Workers are expected to have good working knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (and DOLS). Social Workers are expected to apply the Social Perspective to their work and keep social care issues current in their practice to help promote independence and recovery for clients.

We have recently set up a Reablement service for people to provide intensive short term support for service users in their community to work on their identified outcomes to aid their recovery. We also work closely with the inpatient wards at the Cavell Centre to plan for effective and timely discharge back into the community.

We have Social Workers who are also Practice Teachers, and we encourage Social Workers to take part in the training of new Social Workers through our links with Anglia Ruskin University in the Degree and the MA in Social Work and also the ASYE. Peterborough City Council and CPFT offer training opportunities so that everyone can keep their knowledge and HCPC registration up to date and improve their knowledge and skills generally and progress in their career.
