Service Manager Family Safeguarding

All about the Role

You will work closely with the Head of Service for Assessments and Family Safeguarding and join them and the Family Safeguarding Teams on their journey to drive consistently high-quality services for every child and young person.

You will be an approachable and visible service manager for the service and will be available to your Team Managers and members of the service. You will be open to innovative ideas and will encourage the sharing of these to benefit those receiving a service from us. You will champion families, children and young people, across multiple forums and will challenge discrimination through education and support to internal and external leaders, colleagues, and partners.

You will collaborate with your managers, our quality assurance service, children, young people, and their families to drive the performance and quality of our service delivery.

Through effective line management, reflective supervision, and team collaboration, you will drive a culture of relational practice which involves children, young people, and their families. You will ensure that children, young people, their families, and people who are important to them are valued and are central to all decision making.

All about You
  • You will be aware of the political context of the work we do and be competent and confident in writing and presenting reports to a variety of internal and external partners.
  • You have a current registration with Social Work England
  • You are experienced, enthusiastic, keen to learn and develop.
  • You understand the importance of quality assurance activity, feedback, and a learning culture.
  • You have a full Driving licence and be willing and able to travel locally and sometimes nationally.
  • You have an in-depth knowledge of current legislation and guidance relevant to Child in Need, Child Protection, Public Law Outline, children in care and their experiences.
  • You are solution focussed and creative, managing challenging situations with confidence and innovation.
  •  You will have experience of leading a learning culture which promotes and supports the safeguarding of all children and young people.
  • You will have high expectations, provide high challenge and high support to enable your team to do their absolute best for all children and young people.
