We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Senior Trading Standards Officer to join our Business Advice team,
offering detailed, assured legislative advice to a broad spectrum of businesses.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Trading Standards are one of the national frontrunners in the provision of Primary Authority
Business Advice having secured agreements with over 90 businesses and Trade Associations nationwide. It is delivered by a dynamic team which work to a commercial ethos – delivering exceptional advice services that are practical, commercially aware and timely.
The service is looking to recruit a new member of the team to provide chargeable business advice services to existing
clientele as well as future business partners.
You would be highly conversant with a wide range of legislation covered by Trading Standards, with particular expertise in the area of food law. You will have demonstrable commercial awareness and the ability to deliver both technical and practical advice on compliance in a way that meets the needs of the individual businesses. Furthermore you will understand the need to develop relationships of openness and trust with clients in this area of work, and be able to work within tight timeframes to meet the needs of a client. Attention to detail is essential as is meticulous record keeping, with all advice published and legally ‘assured’.
The post offers the successful applicant great variety, as well as the challenge of interpreting and advising on the greyer areas of the law, such areas often providing commercial opportunities for businesses.
There will be the requirement for occasional travel to meet with clients located elsewhere in the UK, as well as to our Peterborough office, though the majority of advice will be delivered from our offices in Cambourne in Cambridgeshire.
