Further Information
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Public Health Improvement Officer for Children and Young People and Mental Health to join our dynamic team in Peterborough City Council. As one of the fastest-growing areas in the UK, Peterborough boasts a vibrant community and a forward-thinking environment. In 2023, we were recognised as a most improved council, marking our commitment to continuous progress.

Following the recent separation of the Public Health service from Cambridgeshire County Council, we are looking for a skilled and passionate public health specialist with experience of commissioning health improvement services and an in-depth understanding of identifying and addressing population needs for children, young people and their families and those at risk of or impacted by mental health problems to mitigate against inequalities and improve health outcomes.

As our new Senior Public Health Improvement Officer for Children and Young People and Mental Health, you will report to the Team Lead Commissioning and Partnerships for Children and Young People and Mental Health, whilst also working across the directorate. You will also work with other internal Council directorates as well as our key system partners, including community and voluntary sector organisations. You will play an important part using public health evidence and an understanding of need to support commissioning and evaluation of services, including the healthy child programme, and to support the development and implementation of strategies including the health and wellbeing strategy.

As a Senior Public Health Improvement Officer at Peterborough City Council, you will have access to a range of benefits including:

• Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 25 days per year + bank holidays (FTE) + option to purchase up to an additional ten days per year (FTE)
• Comprehensive pension scheme with employer contributions of 17.5% (current)
• Immediate life cover (x3 times your annual salary) and ill-health protection (applicable to those enrolled in LGPS)
• Flexible and hybrid working opportunities
• Discounted private medical insurance
• Access to a car lease salary sacrifice and cycle to work scheme
• Funded professional or subscription fees where qualification or membership of a professional body is an essential part of the role

If you are passionate about the health and wellbeing of children and young people and improving mental health outcomes across all ages, reducing health inequalities and meeting the unique health challenges of Peterborough, we invite you to embark on this exciting journey with us.
