Further Information
Experienced Senior Practitioner and qualified AMHP wanted to lead enthusiastic social work team in Peterborough.
Peterborough City Council, through their Section 75 Agreement, provides mental health social work embedded in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Practitioner, (qualified as an AMHP) to work in the Peterborough Adult Locality team (PALT), primarily working with a caseload of working age adults. There are 9 Social Workers/AMHPs working across the PALT multidisciplinary team, which includes CPNs, Doctors, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Support Workers to promote the best outcomes for service users and carers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Social Worker to lead an enthusiastic social work team through the current challenges.
The Senior Practitioner will be responsible for the supervision and management of the Social Workers. The ideal candidate must be qualified as an AMHP and will be responsible for the supervision of a number of the AMHP Social Workers. Experience in supervising and managing Social Workers within a multi disciplinary setting is essential, as well as being able to motivate and lead the team by example.
Representing the social work service at key multi disciplinary management meetings will be a major element in this Senior Practitioner role.
Knowledge and experience of working with clients who experience severe and enduring mental health problems, who are managed by CPA and non CPA, is key to this role, as is working with other agencies that provide voluntary services in the Peterborough area. CPFT is the health trust providing assessment and treatment for mental health problems. Whilst embedded in CPFT, Social Workers in this team work to an aligned model of service delivery. Social Workers are expected to have a good working knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (and DOLS). Social Workers are expected to apply a Social Perspective to their work and keep social care issues current in their practice to help promote independence and recovery for clients.
We have recently set up a Reablement Service for people recovering from mental health problems to support us in encouraging service users, carers and the community to be positive about recovery from mental illness. PALT link in with the Acute ward at The Cavell Centre to plan for discharge back into the community after admission.
We encourage and support our staff to take part in the training of new Social Workers through our links with Anglia Ruskin University in the Degree and the MA in Social Work and also the ASYE, and our staff do work as Practice Educators. Peterborough City Council and CPFT offer training opportunities for staff to keep their practice and HCPC registration up to date and improve their knowledge and skills generally and progress in their career.
