An exciting opportunity has arisen within Peterborough City Council’s Unitary Authority. We are looking for an individual to join a small dynamic team as a Senior Democratic Services Officer.
The Senior Democratic Services Officer is responsible for providing support services to Peterborough City Council’s democratic decision making process, supporting a number of different committees, including working with the Council’s Scrutiny Committee’s and offering advice on the application and interpretation of constitutional procedures to elected Councillors, Senior Officers, members of the public and external agencies.
The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in much more than the day to day decision making processes, including supporting the wider Constitutional Services Team.
Responsibilities within this post include:
• Undertaking agenda planning, convening meetings, issuing agendas and recording proceedings.
• Ensuring timetables are met and co-ordination between committees and groups enhances the democratic process of the Council.
• To act as a senior member of the Democratic Services team to promote effective democratic functions within the Council.
• Ensuring that the regulatory and scrutiny functions are upheld within the decision-making process.
• Formation and delivery of training with, and to, other team members to ensure consistency of approach and development of knowledge and skills across the team.
• Management responsibilities for 1x Democratic Services Officer.
This post holder must be available to work "out of the normal office hours" during the week as dictated by the requirements of the service.
Attendance in the office is required for formal meetings, however, agile working arrangements are available for day to day business. We offer an excellent working environment with flexibility for working at home and an attractive annual leave policy.
We are ideally looking for someone who has experience in this field.
