We are looking for a Scrutiny Officer to cover maternity leave (up to a year from beginning of March 2019) on either a full or part time basis. You will provide professional and non-political support for the Overview and Scrutiny, and Audit and Governance committees.

This is a great opportunity to work at the heart of local-decision making, to play your part in developing cutting-edge processes and delivering positive outcomes in the recently established Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

We are looking for someone with the right skills, abilities and talent to support our Councillors in their work.

You will demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a politically sensitive environment. You will have highly developed diplomacy and negotiation skills and an ability to communicate efficiently and confidently with members, officers at all levels, external agencies and the public.

You will be enthusiastic, and solution focused, and has an excellent attention to detail, good political awareness and working knowledge of local government decision making processes. Experience in a similar role within the public sector is essential.
