The Council is taking an increasingly commercial approach to both service delivery and exploring activities that might support its budget position in a time of increasing financial constraint. This post will be a key contributor to defining and delivering that agenda. It will:
Develop projects to feasible opportunities, focussing on commercial viability, risk management and practical deliverability
Have day to day responsibility for making some of these projects be delivered and realise their financial and other returns
Engage with senior officers, politicians and other internal and external stakeholders on project development, influencing and negotiating to create a common buy-in and commitment
The successful applicant will demonstrate, amongst other things:
Knowledge of commercial project development and the factors that impact viability
Two-years or more experience in developing and delivering commercial, profit-seeking, projects
An ability to bring clarity and focus to complex issues, getting to the heart of issues and managing risk of scope creep
Excellent communication skills, in writing and verbally, with a track-record of managing disparate audiences and messages to maintain project commitment
