We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Conservation and Design Officer to help lead and develop the work of our Built Environment Team. Peterborough is an area rich in heritage with a cathedral, a range of country houses, halls, manor houses and interesting vernacular buildings across 29 Conservation Areas, incorporating over 900 Listed and 700+ locally listed assets. The role offers a challenging and rewarding range of work.
Peterborough has an ambitious growth agenda and this comes with challenges in balancing growth, whilst respecting the historic environment. As well as providing specialist advice on major development schemes affecting heritage asset this role will provide an opportunity to help guide and manage the city's development, with regard to conserving its historic environment. This includes the opportunity to further develop a strategic framework for this cathedral city’s future heritage conservation.
As a qualified heritage professional, with significant post qualification experience, you will be the lead technical expert for all heritage matters. You will provide reasoned professional advice on the heritage impacts of planning applications and pre-application enquiries. In addition, you will also support a range of heritage project work within the city, inclusive of having a hand in advising on and guiding high-quality design.
