The Early Years SEND Specialist and Portage Service have an exciting new opportunity for a
SEND Specialist and Portage Home visitor/Officer

The Home Visitor/Officer will have responsibility for delivering ‘Portage model’ educational programmes to children 0-5 years. The children will have a wide range of complex disabilities and SEN. The expectation will be, for the successful candidate to work collaboratively with parents/carers to achieve positive outcomes for the children.

The successful candidate will have professional and practical experience of working with very young children, as well as knowledge of effective strategies used for working with children with complex additional support needs.

You will have the ability to work in partnership with families, stakeholder agencies and colleagues.

You will have excellent report-writing skills and an ability to set accurate targets.
You will also have an understanding of the Portage approach, however, formal Portage training will be provided.

An Early Years qualification will be necessary for this role and knowledge and experience of working with children with SEND would be of benefit. This is a varied and challenging role, where each visit/contact will be different. It is essential to have daily use of a car as you will be managing your own caseload, visiting families across the city and transporting equipment.

IT skills would be of benefit to this role.
