Further Information
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated officer to join our high performing regulatory services team. We are a forward-looking service with arrangements in place to provide services for other councils.

The excellent and innovative work that we achieve in Peterborough has been
recognised with the service being shortlisted and winning several national awards. Our aim is to remain at the forefront of regulatory services delivery, encouraging innovation amongst team members to drive forward and develop the service.

This post is focused upon delivering services for Rutland County Council as part of our Regulatory Services shared service agreement, though you will also be required to work closely with colleagues based in Peterborough. The diverse demographic and geographic nature of the area covered by the service makes it an ideal ground for the professional development of any officer.

The successful applicant will be a motivated officer with a passion for environmental protection and an environmental or science based Diploma or Degree. The role involves undertaking a range of functions relating to environmental protection including air quality, contaminated land, permitted processes, investigation of statutory nuisances, reviewing and advising on planning and licensing applications. You will work closely with colleagues across the Council and with our external partners.

The role requires excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work, and a solution focused outlook. We are happy to receive applications from people looking for both full time and part time employment, and though ideally looking for experienced officers we would consider applicants who have relevant skills and alternative qualifications suited to a Pollution Control Officer Post. We are an ambitious Service and set ourselves high standards, if you are equally ambitious we would like to hear from you.

For an informal discussion please contact Lynden Leadbeater (Principal Environmental Health Officer) on 01733 453494 or Dorothy Poulter Senior Environment & Pollution Officer on 01733 453521

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire/Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
