Peterborough City Council are launching a Permit Scheme for Road Works and Street Works and are seeking an enthusiastic person to work as a Permit Officer within the Network and Traffic Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to changing the way street works are managed in Peterborough. You will oversee the permit application and approval process and work as part of the team dealing with street works and co-ordination of works on the highway network.

The post holder will assist in the processing and co-ordination of the Peterborough Permit Scheme in accordance with the legislation and national conditions. They will ensure all permits are reviewed and co-ordinated and managed accurately and efficiently.

You will liaise with Utility Companies, and our Highways Service Contractor and other stakeholders to find ways to ensure working together to minimise disruption on the network. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.

The successful applicant must be able to work in both Huntingdon (the primary location) and Peterborough.
