An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Legal Officer within the Council’s busy litigation team.

The successful applicant will preferably have some legal and/or Local Government knowledge and experience and be able to provide comprehensive support in both an independent and team context. In addition, good organisational and IT skills are necessary, as are excellent communication skills.

The role will include working alongside the existing legal officer in providing support to the 3 lawyers and legal executive in managing their criminal and civil litigation caseloads. This will include preparing cases for court, case management, drafting legal document such as witness statements, liaising with our client departments to obtain information and provide updates, diary management, liaise with the court and supervised research and advice.

Currently based in the town centre, we will soon relocate to a brand new office with outstanding views across the river Nene, just a short walk from the town centre. As an agile workforce there are opportunities to locate with colleagues and clients as well as working from home.
