Peterborough LADO sits within Safeguarding and Quality Assurance alongside Independent Chairs who have a dual role of chairing statutory Child Protection Conferences and Child in Care Reviews.

Peterborough are recruiting a full-time permanent LADO. The LADO is a statutory post. The LADO must act upon all cases where it has been alleged that a person who works or volunteers with children has:

• behaved in a way that has harmed a child, or may have harmed a child
• possibly committed a criminal offence against or related to a child
• behaved towards a child or children in a way that indicates they may pose a risk of harm to children
• behaved or may have behaved in a way that indicates they may not be suitable to work with children

The LADO manages all allegations made against professionals who are in a position of trust.

The LADO is responsible for ensuring that appropriate safeguards are immediately put into place to safeguard children

The LADO co-ordinates information in relation to all allegations made. Information is shared with relevant key professionals, such as the police. The LADO is responsible for convening and chairing multi-agency Allegations Management Meetings where the threshold for LADO intervention is met.

The LADO provides training to partner agencies to raise the awareness of LADO to ensure policies and procedures are followed to safeguard children.

Peterborough LADO also represent Children’s Services by attending Peterborough and Peterborough MAPPA meetings.

The role requires a social work qualification with at least 5 years post qualifying experience in the field of social work with children. This is a great opportunity to use your skills and expertise to manage a busy and varied caseload ensuring safeguarding of children is paramount and central to all decision making.

There may be a requirement to chair Child Protection Conferences depending on the need of the Service. We are passionate about your development and you will be supported in your role through regular 1:1 supervision.

If you are an agile, flexible, and adaptable worker then we would love to hear from you, so apply today or contact Janet Bellamy on 07984044110 for an informal conversation about this post.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
