As an Independent Chair in Peterborough you:
will have a critical and central role in improving the lives of Looked After Children in ensuring their views are heard, fully considered and have influence in the decisions and plans for their future are expected to be the driving force for ensuring Care Plans are child focussed with clear timescales To chair and manage child protection case conferences as well as providing child protection advise and consultation to key multi-agency partners. You will be expected to contribute to the overall development of Children’s Services within an equalities framework, and to ensure the highest possible standards of practice are adhered to. As an experienced practitioner you must be able to analyse information and ensure all issues relating to safeguarding are considered with a clear plan of action identified.

About You

You will have a comprehensive understanding of the role and responsibility of the IRO and Child Protection Chair and have the skill and experience to provide effective independent challenge in a competent and confident way.
You will be able to communicate equally well and appropriately with young people, social workers, managers and council members. Your IT skills will support your efficiency, and, you will be organised and able to achieve targets for completing decisions and minutes.
