The Targeted Youth Support Service (TYSS) is a new and innovative service focused on offering a range of specialist services to young people aged 13-18 and their families who are in need of additional support. Within the Youth and Family team this involves carrying out assessments for young people identified as Child in Need and working in partnership with other agencies to ensure the appropriate provision of services to enable these young people to reach their full potential and to avoid the need for escalation to child protection or care proceeding.

We are looking for an Information Officer for the Youth and Family Team who can help support the work of the team at the point of referral. Working closely with the Team Manager and Senior Practitioners this post would deal with incoming referrals from a range of agencies. This would involve gathering further information from referrers, and other professionals in order to take an initial view of risk, communicating all findings to managers and recording on relevant databases, giving advice to referrers as to decisions made, offering advice as to the best course of action in each case and signposting on where relevant. You will be dealing with sensitive and confidential information, collating key information relating to children's safeguarding and will be maintaining accurate and up to date records in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

This post holder should be committed and motivated to supporting young people and their families. You must be an excellent communicator and have the ability to work well as part of a team.


The post is 15 hours per week Monday to Friday.
