We are seeking a self-motivated Highway Engineer to join the small client team responsible for the delivery of highway improvement schemes, routine maintenance works, major maintenance and other civil engineering schemes across the City. Working with our partners in Peterborough Highway Services you will be responsible for the design, implementation and approval of varied schemes including budget management. A broad awareness of the highway maintenance function is important as the main duties and responsibilities are not limited to major works but also require an awareness of routine, reactive and preventative maintenance as well as winter service.
The main duties and responsibilities of the post are:
1. To assist the Highway Maintenance and Schemes Commissioning Manager in the delivery of all works and schemes in accordance with the contract, whilst promoting continuous improvement and sustaining a positive relationship with stakeholders.
2. To assist in the process of scheme identification/selection and in the development and management of forward works programmes applying asset management principles in support of our Highway Asset Management aspirations.
3. To actively support the delivery of Peterborough Highway Services work programmes across the City and to liaise, as needed, with key stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of the highways strategy.
The successful candidate will be practised in project management and budgetary control, have excellent communication skills (both oral and written), and be good at planning, organising and prioritising their workload.
