A 9-month fixed term vacancy has arisen within the Council’s Health and Safety Team.
The successful applicant for this role will work closely with a small team of Health and Safety Advisors who provide statutory compliance for Peterborough City Council and their clients, working under service level agreements.
The post holder must have attained a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent, and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant field.
The role is largely agile, and travel to and from various Council buildings, land and locations covered by service level agreements will be required. You will therefore need to hold a full UK driving licence and have a vehicle insured for business use.
A key responsibility will be to provide appropriate and relevant internal advice and training to staff and clients, so you will have a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and experience in the application of appropriate standards within the workplace. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to work with limited supervision away from the office.
The post holder will be expected to be familiar with the process of health and safety inspections and/or auditing, with the ability to produce concise and accurate reports and provide appropriate and relevant advice to management and staff. Training will be provided on any Council work management and reporting systems.
Shortlisted applicants will provide a 10 minute presentation of a subject provided on the day. This will be followed by a panel interview.
