Peterborough City Council are looking to recruit someone to lead the Council’s Commercial and Procurement teams. The role is responsible for ensuring that the Council has full and proper oversight of its Commercial and Procurement activities and ensures that services delivered are fit for purpose, cost effective and support service departments to deliver their existing and future services in the most effective way.
The role will have accountability for the development of a Commercial Services offering within the Council. Developing policies and procedures (including developing appropriate Member and Officer governance structures) to ensure the Councils key commercial contracts (be they wholly owned subsidiaries, joint venture partnerships or third-party organisations) are demonstrably delivering in accordance with their individual remits.
In addition, the role has responsibility for the technical and operational delivery of a range of procurement support services across a number of customers and will act as the key senior customer contact for procurement strategy and outcomes. The role manages the successful delivery of strategic procurement services to our customers leading to quality improvements, commercial benefits and improved governance and compliance across the services commissioned.
The Head of Commercial and Procurement will oversee and manage the successful performance of the Councils strategic partnerships responsible for delivering services.
The Head of Commercial and Procurement will provide strategic direction, leadership, and management of the team.
We are looking for a candidate with the required technical expertise along with a strong track record of procuring, varying, and managing a variety of Commercial Contracts across multiple agreement and ownership structures (ideally in the public sector), someone with strong stakeholder management skills as well as the ability to manage budgets, people and processes.
The role will report to the Service Director for Commercial, Property and Asset Management and be located from our main offices in the City Centre, but we operate a hybrid approach and you will find yourself working from home, the office and other sites as and when required.
Salary details:
£73,270 - £84,516 per annum
