Further Information
We are looking to recruit a highly skilled, self-motivated and innovative manager to lead our Environmental Health and Licensing teams.

If you relish the opportunity to have the flexibility to shape future service delivery, then this may be the post for you. Never before have we seen the levels of collaborative working with other agencies and councils that has resulted during the pandemic. The post holder will have a great opportunity to build upon those relationships in the future and in the process deliver more holistic approaches to service delivery.

You will provide strategic direction and leadership to four teams; Food & Health and Safety, Housing, Pollution Control and Licensing. The service forms part of the wider Regulatory Services Group, including the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Coroner Service, Cambridgeshire Registration Service and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Trading Standards.

Peterborough City Council has a shared service arrangement with Rutland County Council, providing the opportunity to lead staff supporting communities and businesses across both city and rural localities.

The service has received national recognition for its work in recent years and has a strong record in the provision of primary authority advice, and other business initiatives. It is also both proactive and ambitious and strives to remain at the forefront of service delivery nationwide.

The role requires excellent management and communication skills. You will be expected to lead on and ensure sustained service development including an ability to manage projects. You will have budgetary responsibility and approximately 40 staff in your service area. The ability to be flexible in your approach is a necessity due to the varied demands of the role.

Peterborough is among the fastest growing areas in the country, resulting in significant investment in infrastructure, new developments, and digital technology. Peterborough City Council has relocated to a new purpose built building, designed to meet the needs of a modern agile local authority and operates flexible working arrangements where agile working is encouraged.
