HANDYMAN/CARETAKER/SITE OFFICER

Working hours - 37 hours per week, year around post, on a shift system, with an element of weekend shift cover required, as per the team rota.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer focused Handyman/Caretaker/Site Officer, to assist with general building maintenance support at the
Brook Street Campus, and at the John Mansfield Campus on a rotating shift system, which includes early mornings and late evenings. There is also a requirement to support our other centres based across the City with any additional general duties, and to support a variety of College events that are held off site. As a Site Officer, you will be nominated as the primary contact at one or more of our out centres.

You must be a ‘team player’ and have previous proven experience in a similar role and you will be able to complete a wide range of basic maintenance tasks. Confidence, knowledge and experience with a variety of power/hand tools is essential. You will also be required to undertake janitorial duties when required. You will be a designated key holder and be able to work unsupervised, therefore, good organisational and time management skills are paramount to this role. In the absence of the Facilities Manager, you will also be required to nominate work details to the caretaking team and cleaning staff. You will be able to place maintenance/stock orders using an on line system (Training will be provided) and you will have the ability to communicate technical work requests to our nominated contractors.

The Facilities team support a wide range of general duties including, plant/heating systems adjustments/monitoring, classroom set ups and general courier deliveries between centres, therefore a full, clean, UK driving licence is required to drive our transit van.
This role is key to supporting our learners and staff, therefore a positive, ‘can do’ attitude, and a good team working ethos plus a flexible approach to the wide variety of duties, is an essential requirement of this role.
