Create Moments that Matter... become a foster carer
Have you got a spare bedroom? Are you over 21?
The Peterborough City Council Fostering Service are currently seeking passionate and dedicated people to join our existing cohort of foster carers, to provide a loving, stable home for local children and young people. If you can answer yes to the above questions, you could be a fantastic foster carer! Fostering is not only a life choice but can also be an extremely rewarding career choice.
Our generous financial allowances help you to provide care for a local child and/or children, whether that be on a short or long-term basis. As a foster carer, you will be home based and will have full support from the experienced in-house fostering team, based at Sand Martin House, Peterborough. At Foster for Peterborough, (a not-for-profit fostering local authority service) we offer many types of fostering to suit your lifestyle and commitments. Our friendly and knowledgeable recruitment team will discuss with you how fostering might fit your current commitments and find a type of fostering that is right for you and your circumstances.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a lively and dynamic team which acts as the first point of contact for local children who require the support of a loving fostering family in the Peterborough area. We welcome enquiries from anyone who has the time to dedicate to changing a young life for the better. Our foster carers benefit from excellent training opportunities with a hybrid approach of online and in person training. You will also have the benefit of being paired with an experienced Foster Carer who will act as your mentor throughout the assessment process, access to a 24 advice and support line, and above all else, a chance to play a real part in the creation of a very rewarding and dedicated service. We recognise the importance of transferable skills, and we provide a detailed and focused induction, so there is no requirement to have previous fostering experience, or to have had children of your own. Our Foster Carers come from all walks of life and there are no such things as ‘ideal foster carers’.
This is a great opportunity for you to do something new and make a positive change to children and young people’s lives.
If you have a friend or family member who you believe fits this description and would make a fantastic foster carer, simply email their details to?fosteringteam@peterborough.gov.uk?and one of our friendly recruitment officers will take it from there or visit: fosterwithpeterborough.org.uk for more fostering information.
All foster carers will be approved subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. Peterborough City Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity. We believe this is beneficial for our employees, the organisation, and the communities we serve.
