We are looking for an individual that has the energy and enthusiasm to work with adults with learning disabilities, leading a staff team to deliver a high standard of support to individuals with learning disabilities, to maximise their employability and independence skills in our newly developed industrial hub based at Hampton in Peterborough and in the community.

The right person will be a car driver and preferably hold D1 driving licence and be able to tow a twin axle trailer.

You will be experienced at assessing need and delivering positive and meaningful outcomes for people with learning disabilities and a proven record of supervising and developing staff in a care or supported employment role.

You will work to promote a person-centred approach of independence and empowerment of people using services. You will assist with the planning, facilitating and evaluating individual and/or group work within the Industrial Hub and/or community settings as determined by individual development plans, including escort work to promote users’ confidence, independence, and acquisition of skills.
You must be prepared to deal with people who are often emotional and unpredictable in behaviour and be able to use negotiating skills to enable a person to fulfil their needs, and be as independent as they can be according to their care plan and physical/mental health situation. You will have an awareness of issues facing people with learning and/or physical disabilities. You will have effective inter-personal skills such as negotiation, assertiveness and verbal communication. You will have the ability to use initiative, prioritise, and liaise with a range of other professionals. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and alone on base or in the community. You will have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with a variety of situations.
