All about the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed teaching that meets the individual needs of vulnerable young people at Clare Lodge.

Teachers are expected to plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that promote both academic progress and personal growth in a secure, nurturing environment.

Teaching & Learning:
Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive English lessons that inspire and challenge all learners.
Adapt teaching to meet individual needs and starting points.
Use formative and summative assessments to track progress.

Curriculum Development:
Contribute to a broad, enriched curriculum including BTEC, Functional Skills, and AQA awards.
Ensure content is accessible, relevant, and aligned with national standards and student needs.

Student Support & Safeguarding:
Build positive relationships and respond to students' emotional and behavioural needs.
Foster a trauma-informed, psychologically safe classroom.
Uphold all safeguarding procedures.

Collaboration & Professionalism:
Work with care, health, and education teams to support holistic development.
Engage in CPD and contribute to school improvement.

Monitoring & Accountability:
Keep accurate records of planning, assessment, and attendance.
Contribute to school evaluation and maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.

All about You
  • You have Qualified Teacher Status or QTLS
  • You have experience of working with young people with a range of special education needs and with a range of abilities
  • You are able to deal positively and objectively with challenging pupils and display skills of patience, understanding and tolerance

All about Clare Lodge

Clare Lodge is a leading national provider of all female "welfare" placements (Children Act 1989. Section 25) for young people in the UK. The service is independent, not contracted to the Youth Justice Board and accepts referrals in respect of young people aged 10 to 17 years who are in need of care, programmes of intervention and protection. Typically, those placed have extensive histories of abuse and exploitation, poor attachments, and low self-esteem. Many of the young people have a range of health / mental needs and exhibit complex behaviours which may include running away, self-harm, exploitation, psycho-sexual difficulties, issues concerning drug and alcohol misuse, eating disorders, aggression and other challenging behaviours.
