About our service
- The Educational Psychology Service is a dedicated and caring team that is well regarded within the authority and other stakeholders. We have an established consultative model of service delivery that values the application of psychology, innovative practice and professional integrity. We place emphasis on the importance of professional judgement and are using a wide range of tools and approaches for different levels of work. The service is well placed within the SEN and Inclusion Service to play a key role in the implementation of the SEND Reform programme and the development of person-centred approaches. We maintain strong links with universities which help us to keep a skilled and well informed workforce of experienced EPs, Trainees and Psychology Assistants.
- Peterborough EP Service provides regular opportunities for continuous professional development to promote up-to-date professional practice of a high standard. The EP Service supports agile working through full IT provision and modern office accommodation. All Educational Psychologists are based in Sand Martin House, Fletton Quays, Peterborough.
- We promote open access to Educational Psychology through telephone support and through bookable community consultations for parents/carers.
About you
- You will be joining our educational psychology team at a very exciting time as we are now established in delivering a traded service for all non-statutory work and offer centralised traded training with exciting opportunities for developing expertise. We are seeking applicants who will embrace this change and contribute positively in building and shaping high quality service. Your unique skills will bring a new dimension to the service that we will nurture and further develop collaboratively with you.
- The successful applicant will support schools to deliver the graduated approach for children, young people and young adults aged 0-25, who may have Special Educational Needs and others about whom there may be a concern as outlined in the Code of Practice 2014.
- Candidates should have sound knowledge about current practice in Educational Psychology and legislation concerning special educational needs, in particular legislation relating to the Code of Practice 2014 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. In casework candidates should be able to formulate and investigate psychological hypotheses and develop appropriate interventions that will support the child or young person appropriately.
