Temporary Coroners Officer 37 hours per week (over 5 days Monday - Friday). Salary on appointment is £22,937 - £26293 depending on experience. This is a fixed term contract of six months with the option to extend.

We are seeking to temporarily appoint an experienced, organised and efficient individual as a Coroners Officer to provide support for H M Coroner and to act in accordance with their authority and directions. They will liaise directly on all aspects of sudden and unexpected death within Peterborough, and from elsewhere. They act as principle liaison and point of contact between numerous external agencies and the families of the deceased.
The post is based in Peterborough, although working in other Cambridgeshire locations may be required on occasions. The post holder will also be required to travel to the local hospitals and to visit families and other agencies where necessary, usually within the county.
Applicants will be able to demonstrate an organised and efficient approach to work and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. You must be proficient at using IT systems (including Word, Outlook and Excel). You will be expected to contribute positively to the effective running of the Coroners team.
An understanding of the requirement for confidentiality is essential as are good communication skills. The nature of this job requires the post holder to view deceased persons, photographs of deceased persons and to work directly with the recently bereaved. Post holders need to be aware of, and able to cope with this requirement. They will also be required to attend post mortems.
