Children’s Commissioning Contract Monitoring Officer – Fixed Term 

Peterborough City Council Children’s Commissioning Team are looking for an experienced, motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a fixed term Contract monitoring officer. This role is pivotal in ensuring a high quality of services which are provided to Children and Young People in Care and will be responsible for contract monitoring and quality assurance of these services, with a particular focus on Supported Accommodation Services for 16 – 18-year-olds. 

Our commissioning function is dynamic and high performing with a can-do approach, ensuring the best quality range of services are commissioned to meet the diverse needs of our population. We are looking for a candidate with a similar hands-on approach that can enhance the services continuing development and delivery. 

As Contract Monitoring Officer you will: 
  • Focus on quality assurance visits to external providers who deliver services to children and young people in care 
  • Ensure that services being provided are in line with the needs of the children and young people and they are achieving positive outcomes 
  • Monitor, review and evaluate the performance of external service providers to ensure they meet contractual obligations and standards and are providing value for money 
  • Professionally challenge poor practice and work with providers to ensure improvement of service and quality whilst managing and mitigating against risk 
  • Identify contractual compliance shortfalls and recommend the appropriate course of action 
  • Celebrate good practice 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external providers 
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on contract performance and compliance. 

 A salary offered at Grade 8 (£31,067 - £34,314 pay award for 2025 pending)
