Exciting opportunity for an experienced Planning Compliance Team Manager to work on a wide range of cases and lead a high-performing team.

This is an exciting time to join Peterborough City Council. Peterborough is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and the Planning Department is seen as being key to delivering the Council’s ambitious growth agenda.

Reporting to the Group Manager for Compliance and Development Management,
the successful candidate will lead the Planning Compliance Team (2.6 fte), taking a proactive role in investigating and resolving breaches of planning control, improving the quality of the environment and delivering positive outcomes for our communities.

Candidates will need sound planning compliance or enforcement experience with a minimum of 5 years being in a compliance role. Enforcement appeal and court experience is essential. You will have a personal caseload and be case officer for a range of compliance across the Peterborough area.

It would be desirable if you have at least 3 years experience of managing a planning compliance team. You should be able to demonstrate effective leadership and management skills and the techniques to support, motivate and get the best performance from your team. Strong communication skills, negotiation skills and ability to drive creative solutions to complex issues will be important.

This is a busy Planning Department and you will need to be able to work under pressure, but in return you will be part of a friendly and supportive team, working in a new office environment in the centre of Peterborough.

In order to drive efficiencies, the successful candidate may be required to work in neighbouring authorities.
