The City Services and Communications team have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager role to provide an authority lead and manage the income generation across a wide range of services including parking.
Main duties
- Manage the on-street and off-street parking functions to ensure that income is maximised within the policies and procedures established.
- To create and implement commercial business strategy for the service.
- Securing sponsorship for the departments events and activities.
- Creating income opportunities from a wide range of service.
- To apply a level of problem solving that may involve complex consideration, often of a multidisciplinary nature with several alternative options which may be difficult to evaluate whilst presenting information and advice at short notice.
- To act in a way that has a major impact on service provision and will influence the achievement of the Council’s operating objectives in so far as they relate to the work of the Parking Service.
- To set the direction and the programmes for the service area, ensuring that service plans and work programmes are provided, and to be responsible for effectively managing the risks for the service.
- Ensuring equality of access and treatment in service delivery.
- To prepare reports as required, sometimes on complex matters, that may need to be presented orally or in writing.

- Ability to analyse complex situations / issues and develop a resolution.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills in dealing with working relationships, to communicate with people sensitively and effectively and be able to manage confrontational situations.
- Organisational and planning skills to determine priorities, manage workload and systems to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships, within the Directorate and with Members, Partners and the Peterborough community.
- Able to demonstrate evidence of basic information technology skills.
