Peterborough City Council are looking for a dynamic individual to take a leading role in the planning and delivery of a schools’ climate change engagement programme. Peterborough City Council declared a climate emergency and has committed to support the city to become net zero by 2030. The city’s schools are not only directly responsible for a significant proportion of local CO2 emissions but are uniquely placed to engage, inspire and educate young people about climate change.
The candidate will:
• Develop targeted educational resources to enhance primary and secondary pupils understanding of environmental issues including climate change and renewable energy.
• Work with schools to develop an in depth understanding amongst office and teaching staff of climate change issues by providing tailored information on a school by school basis, supporting individual schools to take ownership of carbon reduction projects.
• Support the work of the Youth Council to enhance their understanding of climate change issues and support them through the process of developing and delivering projects that will directly and indirectly reduce carbon emissions.
The post holder will ensure that all schemes and services are delivered in line with statutory, funding and governance requirements with a view to continuous improvement, whilst sustaining a positive relationship with stakeholders and schools.
