Following the promotion of the current post holder, an opportunity has arisen to appoint a Cemeteries and Crematorium Technician at Peterborough Bereavement Services which is owned and operated by Peterborough City Council.

The successful candidate will be highly flexible, well-motivated and can demonstrate good communication skills. They will be part of a small team providing the highest level of customer services to bereaved families, visitors and stakeholders alike.

The main duties and responsibilities of the post include carrying out horticulture duties including grass cutting, planting, pruning and maintenance of roses, shrubs and trees; weeding and leaf clearing. Duties also include memorial safety checks within the Council’s cemeteries and to represent the Council at burials and to meet with suppliers and contractors.

The successful candidate will need to be well presented, have experience of dealing with the public, previously worked in amenity horticulture or a similar environment and demonstrate a good working knowledge of Health and safety in the work place and in particular manual handling. The ability to work flexible hours, including a weekend rota, and have your own car is essential. Significant attention to detail, coupled with the ability to work with minimal supervision is key, whilst having experience of working outdoors is a distinct advantage.
