Exciting new role for Peterborough!

A Capital and Assets Education Planning Officer is required to work within Education Services.

Peterborough is a growing city with major urban extensions planned. We also have a significant number of families moving into Peterborough. Responding to the need for additional school places is the main focus of this role. You’ll help to plan for the need to create new schools, new school places for years to come as well as develop a clear understanding of what other changes might need to take place. Preparing data and analysing it, along with contributing to national data returns, providing information for specific business cases and projects will be key parts of the role.

We would like to hear from candidates who have an understanding of school place planning, use of data and analysis to develop business cases and plans for a whole area. Knowledge and application of key legislation is important or having a keen interest in developing skills within this area. You will have experience of developing and keeping up to date data and projections, translating this into analysis, planning and strategy documents, developing briefing documents and communications with schools, settings and the public.

You will assist in the development of the school’s capital programme (expansions and condition projects) and the Schools Organisation Plan, to enable the Council to meet its statutory duty to provide a sufficient number of school places as an education authority.

We are looking for someone with highly developed critical thinking skills alongside a proven ability to provide data and analysis to aid education planning, complying with existing, new, or evolving national guidance and local policies.

We aspire for Peterborough to be one of the best places in the country for young people to grow, learn, develop, and achieve – and one of the best places for colleagues to work and thrive in our education system.

Now is a great time to join us and be part of this service. In return for working with us, you will have access to an amazing range of benefits including:

• Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 25 days per year + bank holidays (FTE) + option to purchase up to an additional ten days per year (FTE)
• Comprehensive pension scheme with employer contributions of 17.5% (current)
• Immediate life cover (x3 times your annual salary) and ill-health protection (applicable to those enrolled in LGPS)
• Flexible and hybrid working opportunities
• Discounted private medical insurance
• Access to a car lease salary sacrifice and cycle to work scheme
• Funded professional or subscription fees where qualification or membership of a professional body is an essential part of the role

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation, and the communities we serve.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment
