Based in Peterborough since 1970, Westcombe Engineering; owned by Peterborough City Council, is proud to be a specialist in the design and manufacture of precision engineered parts. We have several key customers, one of which is global giant Perkins Engines, a diesel engine manufacturer that we supply and deliver precision machined parts and assemblies to, both locally and globally as a Tier 1 Supplier. Our machined components are supplied to a wide range of industries including Aerospace, Agricultural, Construction, Electronics, Food, Marine, Medical, Fitness Equipment and Pharmaceutical.

For almost half a century, Westcombe Engineering has been a pioneer, remaining true to its unique founding principle – to provide employment and development opportunities for disabled people who face barriers in securing gainful employment. The company was set up in 1970 by the late Royce W. Westcombe, who had a vision of enabling disabled men and women into work, and an unerring dedication to equip disabled workers with the skills and knowledge that would allow them to pursue careers in the wider economy.

The successful individual should have an

? Understanding of Local Government Policies and procedures

? Understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
? Understanding of safety reporting and investigation procedures.
? Production planning and scheduling.
? Understanding of connecting functional interface (e.g. finance, HR, Finance, logistics, purchasing quality etc).
? Engineering/Production background.

Skills and Abilities,

? Ability to produce accurate financial and other information using computerised and manual systems
? Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs across the service

? Able to balance and prioritise service with conflicting needs.

? Flexible approach, a keen eye for detail and the ability to make good, balanced business decisions to meet future business and customer requirements.
? Ability to analyse and evaluate information from a range of sources and determine and advise on an appropriate course of action.
? Ability to manage multiple diverse projects whilst prioritising workloads.
? Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all team members, customers and suppliers through a proactive and accessible management style.
? Ability to manage and work with people with a wide range of disabilities.
? Ability to delegate and train, where appropriate.
