Further Information
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Trading Standards is a shared service hosted by Peterborough City Council, providing a Trading Standards Service for Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Rutland.
The area is one of real diversity, with global leaders in artificial intelligence and life sciences, research and development and IT in South Cambridgeshire, leading Agri-tech businesses and a strong rural economy in North Cambridgeshire; manufacturing being a key part of Peterborough’s economy; and Rutland with its predominantly agricultural economy – the smallest County in the England. This diversity brings with it great variety for our officers.
The Service is an award winning, innovative team, with a strong presence in the Primary Authority and Financial Investigation arenas. We have adopted a graduated enforcement policy, using a range of enforcement ‘tools’ to bring businesses into compliance, with a strong emphasis on advice and education, but where prosecution is necessary, we have a strong track record of success in court, with the Business Compliance team bringing successful prosecutions for allergens breaches and animal welfare/offences last year.
We have a strong reputation corporately for excellence and delivering real results for our communities and local businesses. We are passionate about supporting our local economy through ensuring there is a level playing field in terms of compliance and tackling the rogues and dishonest traders to protect the reputation of legitimate trade.
We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours, and the use of technology to support remote and home working.
We really hope you will consider joining us…..
We are looking to recruit a full time Business Compliance Manager to head up a team of 7 officers carrying out our proactive inspection programmes across Food Standards, Feed, Petroleum, Explosives, Animal Health and Metrology. You will be joining a team of highly motivated officers who have a great deal of expertise in their fields. In addition to the line management responsibilities, the management aspect of the role will involve performance management ensuring we meet our statutory requirements; providing guidance and support to team members in terms of operational and enforcement decisions; providing support and leading on tasks for the wider management team; and leading on training and development for the Service as a whole. However, the management role will not take up all of your time, and with the remainder you will be able to keep doing the operational work that you no doubt enjoy by carrying out inspections to support the delivery of the teams inspection plans.
Whilst the team is working from home at present, once office occupation resumes, because the team is split across two offices, it will be necessary to visit both sites each week.
If you think this might be the right opportunity for you but want to find out a bit more, please contact Catherine Pawson, Head of Operations, Trading Standards on 07770 316544 or Joanne Smith, Team Leader Consumer Protection on 01223 715356.
Please note, applications from candidates who do not have a Trading Standards qualification will not be considered.
Closing date for applications is 26th October with interviews w/c 9th November
