A fantastic new opportunity has opened up for an enthusiastic, experienced Building Control Manager to join our Service.

This is an exciting time to join Peterborough City Council with a new chief executive and leader as we look to transform the way we deliver our services.

As Building Control Manager, you will report to the Assistant Director Housing. Your primary role will be to ensure our service users are maintaining compliance with building control regulations and supporting your colleagues to deliver excellent services that provide value for money.

This is a six month fixed term contract primarily to cover the period during which we will be exploring options for the long term future and sustainability of the LABC service in Peterborough. Your commercial acumen and drive to develop new business opportunities, and promote the work of the building control service, will be key to your success.

It is essential that you are educated to degree level in a related subject and have achieved a professional qualification to corporate level with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered Association of Building Engineers.
In order to be successful in this role you will have significant experience of working in building control, ideally within local government. You’ll also possess excellent working knowledge of building regulations and associated legislation as we as knowledge on a variety of building uses including large complex non-domestic building projects.

In addition, you’ll have great communication skills, as you’ll need to be able to negotiate with customers and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
