We are a council central to the success of Peterborough, welcoming hundreds of commuters and visitors each day. It is our job not only to meet but also exceed, the needs of different communities within the city.
We work individually and together to ensure we deliver excellent services for the public. Our ambition is to create a bigger and better Peterborough through sustainable development and growth so that every neighbourhood remains a great place to live, work and visit.

The growth of our City

Peterborough is enjoying a period of regeneration and growth - we are the 5th fastest growing City in the UK– we have ongoing significant development projects bringing new housing to the City, major redevelopment of existing buildings and construction of new sites in and around the City Centre. We have a thriving, exciting and varied leisure culture, including cinemas, theatres, retail opportunities and great restaurants and coffee shops in the centre, where we have created a real café culture with outside seating areas and pedestrianised streets.

Our Legal Team:-

The Legal Department at Peterborough City Council is a 48 officer strong team comprised of four sections:- Planning & Property, Commercial Contract & Procurement, Child Protection and Litigation.
The team is made up of lawyers and legal officers and has administrative support to ensure efficient delivery of service. We serve not only our own internal PCC client departments, with a range of support across the various service areas, but we also provide external legal support to other Local Authorities.
In August 2018, we re-located from our historical home at the Town Hall in the City Centre, to Sand Martin House, which is a brand new, purpose-built Headquarters situated in the heart of the newly redeveloped embankment area, Fletton Quays, which offers residential accommodation, retail units, office space and hotels amidst beautiful landscaped and open public areas. Our offices offer an amazing, modern space to work, alongside our policy of agile working which allows maximum flexibility within a role to officers thus affording a better work-life balance, something we are all striving for in our modern working lives.
For those considering a commute, Peterborough is 50 minutes by train from London, and we have excellent access to the A1 making us a viable option to travel to work with great transport links.
There is ample parking in and around our offices for those who require it, and easy access to the City Centre, which is just a 5 minute walk away. We are situated on the embankment of the River Nene which offers a scenic and open environment to enjoy immediately outside the office building. If you are looking for a new challenge, and possibly a new location to work within, Peterborough has plenty to offer.
